Background: The increase in the number of elderly people is followed by an increase in the incidence of chronic diseases that can affect food intake, nutritional status, functional ability, and quality of life. Elderly people with chronic diseases are at risk of impaired nutritional status, physical weakness, decreased independence, and limited daily activities. Research on the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life among elderly people with chronic diseases living in nursing homes is still limited. Therefore, a comprehensive assessment of nutritional status and quality of life is needed as a basis for efforts to improve their quality of life. Objective: To determine the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life among elderly people with chronic diseases at a nursing home in Surakarta. Methods: This study used a quantitative correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 35 elderly people with chronic diseases selected using purposive sampling. Nutritional status was measured using the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA), while quality of life was measured using WHOQOL-OLD. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that 12 respondents (34.3%) had normal nutritional status, 12 (34.3%) were at risk of malnutrition, and 11 (31.4%) were malnourished. Most respondents had poor quality of life, namely 19 people (54.3%), while 16 (45.7%) had good quality of life. The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between nutritional status and quality of life, with p = 0.001 (p < 0.05) and r = 0.619. Conclusion: Elderly people with better nutritional status tend to have better quality of life.
