Abstract

Nausea and vomiting is a common complaint experienced by pregnant women in the first trimester and can interfere with comfort, nutritional intake, and daily activities. One non-pharmacological effort that can be used to help reduce these complaints is lime aromatherapy. This study aims to determine the effect of lime aromatherapy on reducing nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women at UPTD Puskesmas Paguyaman. This study used a quantitative design with a pre-experimental approach using a one group pre-test post-test design. The sample consisted of 46 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using observation sheets of nausea and vomiting before and after lime aromatherapy. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test with SPSS. The results showed that before the intervention most respondents experienced moderate nausea and vomiting as many as 27 respondents (58.7%), while after the intervention most respondents experienced mild nausea and vomiting as many as 25 respondents (54.3%). The Wilcoxon test results showed a p-value of 0.000. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of lime aromatherapy on reducing nausea and vomiting in first trimester pregnant women at UPTD Puskesmas Paguyaman.
