Hubungan Kunjungan Antenatal Care (ANC) dan Usia Ibu dengan Deteksi Dini Kejadian Berat Bayi Lahir Rendah (BBLR) di Wilayah Puskesmas Galang Kota Batam

Low birth weight (LBW) remains a major public health concern and an important contributor to neonatal morbidity and mortality. Maternal age and the adequacy of antenatal care (ANC) are among the factors associated with LBW. This study aimed to determine the association of ANC visits and maternal age with the incidence of LBW in the working area of Galang Community Health Center, Batam City. A quantitative analytical observational study was conducted using a case-control design. The study involved 40 respondents, comprising 20 mothers who delivered LBW infants and 20 mothers who delivered infants with normal birth weight. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were obtained from medical records, observation sheets, and interviews. The associations between ANC visits, maternal age, and LBW incidence were analyzed using Fisher’s Exact Test. The results showed a significant association between ANC visits and LBW incidence (p=0.001; OR=81.00; 95% CI: 10.26–639.34). Maternal age was also significantly associated with LBW incidence (p=0.008; OR=9.33; 95% CI: 2.19–40.00). Mothers with incomplete ANC visits had a higher likelihood of delivering LBW infants, while mothers with non-ideal age (<20 or ≥35 years) also had a higher likelihood of LBW. In conclusion, ANC visits and maternal age were significantly associated with LBW incidence in the working area of Galang Community Health Center, Batam City.
