Pengaruh Pemberian ASI Eksklusif terhadap Pertumbuhan Bayi Usia 1-6 bulan di RSU GMIM Bethesda Tomohon

Every newborn requires adequate nutritional intake to support optimal growth and development. One of the best ways to fulfill this need is through exclusive breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding refers to providing breast milk alone, without any additional food or beverages, for the first six months of life. Breast milk is the primary source of nutrition for infants and is considered exclusive because it is given only to infants aged 0–6 months. An infant's growth and development are largely influenced by the amount of breast milk consumed. Infants who are not exclusively breastfed are at a higher risk of experiencing suboptimal growth and development.
This study aimed to determine the effect of exclusive breastfeeding on the growth of infants aged 1–6 months. The study employed a qualitative research method. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis to determine the frequency distribution of each variable, while bivariate analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000. Since the p-value (0.000) was less than 0.05, the findings indicate a statistically significant difference before and after exclusive breastfeeding on the growth of infants aged 1–6 months at GMIM Bethesda General Hospital, Tomohon. It is expected that healthcare providers will strengthen programs that support the expansion of exclusive breastfeeding coverage and improve the success of exclusive breastfeeding practices, such as increasing community education and health promotion programs on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of an infant's life.
